Western Entrepreneurship & Innovation Building
Project Overview:
The Western Entrepreneurship & Innovation Building was designed to be a hub where collaborative and entrepreneurial ideas can take root and thrive. It serves as a space for students, faculty, and community members to invent, build, grow, and share new business concepts.
Key architectural and sustainability features include:
- Geothermal heating and cooling – for energy efficiency
- Green roof – to reduce environmental impact
- Triple-glazed windows – for superior insulation
- Abundant natural light – through extensive use of windows
- Flexible spaces – including maker spaces, co-working areas, and a welcoming common lobby
- Courtyard connection – opening into a great hall and event spaces, encouraging interaction and collaboration
Project Schedule: Planning & Construction: 2021 – 2024
Project Location:
The building is situated along Western Road, between Weldon Library and the Law Building. Construction activity required careful coordination to minimize disruptions to walkways, roadways, parking lots, entrances, and loading areas in this high-traffic academic zone.
INPS Contribution:
INPS was awarded the signage package for the project. Deliverables included:
- Exterior Building Name Signage
- Interior Room Identification Signs
- Donor Recognition Plaques
By fabricating and installing these elements, INPS supported both wayfinding functionality and donor recognition, ensuring the signage aligned with the modern architectural vision of the building.
