Elevator Re-finishing

Project Overview:
At the completion of Phase II of the Music Building Renovation, there was an unappealing elevator that needed dressing up to match the cosmetic updates in the rest of the building.

Challenge:
Any material going into the elevator cab had to meet fire-rating regulations and had to be removable. We had to refinish the interior walls without renovating the entire cab while avoiding adding any weight. Once we decided on 3MTM DI-NOCTM Architectural Finishes, we had a three-week time-frame to plan, source, convert the material and install it before homecoming.

Solution:
3MTM DI-NOCTM is fire resistant when used in Interior Applications as defined by NFPA 101 “Life Safety Code,” Test Method ASTM E84. 3MTM DI-NOCTM Architectural Finishes are decorative surface finishes for interior applications that are as light as wallpaper. DI-NOC finishes are surprisingly simple to install, clean, maintain, and reconfigure. Our team chose a readily available stock material. Next, we created a design that was easy to cut and install to meet the three-week timeline.
