Ivey School of Business Building

Modern, Elegant and Functional Signage Solutions

Project Overview:
A newly constructed, architecturally distinctive building for the Ivey School of Business at Western University required way-finding signage, a unique curved ledge containing donor’s names, and additional commemorative plaques and decorative elements.

Challenge:
All components needed to blend seamlessly with the building’s interior modern aesthetic. The curved donor recognition ledge was in a high traffic area where it would be prone to vandalism and the material specified would not conform to the complex shape. Additionally, the stairwell identifier signage plates were too heavy to adhere to the walls.

Solution:
To maintain the desired appearance, alternate materials and methods for affixing the signage had to be sourced. To achieve the curve, we screen-printed on a conformable material specified by our in-house engineering team, that would prevent students from tampering with the ledge. For the signage plates, we maintained the architect’s vision by finding a lighter material with a similar appearance and used an alternate adhesive to ensure it would be long-lasting. .
