Signage and Wayfinding York University

Project Overview:
INPS was awarded a three year contract with York University to be their designated interior sign supplier. The project included: Room ID – Wall mounted signs, Washroom signs (barrier free, gender neutral, female and male), Room Numbers, Paper Insert Signs, Stair and Floor Number, Water stations, Main Directory Wayfinding Signs and Projectional Safety Signs.

Challenge:
York University’s request was to have their signage meet AODA standards as their existing signage was not compliant. We had to access the existing standards and adapt the design to meet AODA standards. The main criteria was the introduction of braille and raised text. Additionally, we were challenged to meet the university’s standards and colors to match existing signage.

Solution:
Our photopolymer process provides an excellent vandal-resistant AODA-compliant sign. We were able to overcome the standard and color matching because of proper engineering, variable materials, diversified equipment and processes along with our experienced staff. The issue of installation was solved by using multiple methods of attachment and the skill and knowledge that we have accumulated over several years of being in business.
